Abstract

Normally for the oxidation of sulfide group thioacetamide and turn it into a target drug (modafinil) of 33% hydrogen peroxide in the presence of glacial acetic acid oxidizing agent is used which is carried out within 4 hours. In this work, new nano-catalyst VO3-/ NH3+-SiO2/Fe3O4 were prepared and characterized for the oxidation of sulfide to sulfoxide in the presence of molar quantities of H2O2. The results show an increase in the efficiency of the final product and reduce
the reaction time is about 45 minutes. The new proposed catalyst for possessing magnetic properties after the sulfoxidation, by external magnetic fields (magnets) easily removed from the reaction flask and rewashed was used in the reaction. The catalyst provided by techniques of IR, BET, SEM, VSM and XRD were identified.
