Abstract

Phytosome technique is a new method for encapsulating natural compounds to increase bioavailability and absorption in the biological environment. Phytosome provides maximum adsorption conditions in target cells due to the use of phospholipids as coatings. This project aims to present a suitable method for encapsulating the polyphenolic enrich extract of Satureja khuzistanica in the phytosome structure by thin-film hydration following ultrasonication and freeze-drying. Phytosome structures were analyzed by particle size, morphology, and time-release mechanism. The results showed the phytosome particle size in the dimensions of 82.2 nm was stable for six months. The release of phytomose structure properly adjusted on Korsmeyer mechanism and release drug transport occurs by diffusion following Fick law (case-I transport).
