Abstract
Heavy metals create many health problems in the environment, especially in the water. Effective technologies for heavy metals removal which use different methods, are attractive from an economic, availability and high power standpoint. The aim of this study is to investigate the up taken of heavy metals (Cd and Pb) by the Suaeda aegyptiaca in the aqueous solution as an absorbent. An experimental study was performed by dried Suaeda aegyptiaca of Jiroft (south of Iran) as absorbents. All experiments were performed at room temperature. The effects of absorbent dose, contact time, initial concentration of heavy metals were considered and absorption isotherms were illustrated. The results show absorption of lead is more than cadmium but absorption energy of cadmium is more than lead. According to simple availability and cheap cost of production of Suaeda aegyptiaca, this procedure is practical method to remove heavy metals from industrial waste water.
